What does a Curriculum Director do?

  • Continually research developments in curriculum and instruction

  • Observe and coach teachers in effective instructional practices

  • Work with and train classroom teachers to provide interventions aligned by subject area

  • Actively participate in collaborative problem solving and reflective practices which include, but are not limited to DLT, professional study groups, peer observations, grade level planning, and weekly team meetings

  • Plan and deliver professional development activities designed to improve instructional strategies

  • Coordinate with principals and the teacher leadership team horizontal and vertical alignment of the instructional program

  • Provide responsibility for the development and completion of the curriculum portion of CPLAN and AYP state reports for the school district

  • Review and evaluate results of district-wide testing programs

  • Study, evaluate, and recommend adoption of instructional materials and programs

  • Recommend the addition of new courses

  • Interpret the curriculum and its philosophy to the Board, the administration, the staff, and all stakeholders

  • Commit to growing professionally and continue life-long learning

  • Maintain confidentiality with professional relationships
